Help Young Living Help Haiti

January 15, 2010

On Tuesday, January 12, the worst earthquake in 200 years struck the island nation of Haiti. While the full extent of the damage is unknown, a fierce, daily struggle to survive now faces many Haitians. Thousands are feared dead and without adequate water, food, shelter, or medical care, survivors face a future of uncertainty.

In order to provide much needed relief, Young Living Essential Oils and The D. Gary Young Foundation: Young Living Outreach will give 10% of all proceeds from the sales of Young Living Lavender and Peace & Calming® essential oils from January, 15 to 31, 2010, directly to relief organizations working in Haiti.

If you or someone you know uses these oils, help Young Living and The D. Gary Young Foundation help the people of Haiti when you purchase these oils. And please share this message with anyone who might be interested.

You can also make a monetary donation through The D. Gary Young Foundation.

Starting out with Essential Oils & the FAQ

It's taken me longer to get this blog going then I had hoped. But my back decided to act up and I needed to add some pretty icky meds into my mix and the meds make me sleepy, stupid and slothish. Just another reason to love Essential Oils. The only real side effect is that you smell yummy. Such a hard life. LOL

So here are a few of the questions I get asked most often. Hope this helps and please, if you have any specific questions about an oil or ailment please feel free to ask in the comments or e-mail me. I will do the best I can to get the info you need.

FAQ

What brand of oils do you use?

It really depends but for the most part and whenever I am using an oil for a therapeutic use I will use an oil from the Young Living line of Essential Oils. Ounce for ounce they are on par with the oils you find at your local health food stores but the quality is heads and tales better. They are the best bang for your buck...and if you are going to spend the money on an oil you really should be able to use it for all that it can do for you.

Which oils should I buy first?

I always recommend that people start with Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon & Thieves. There are very few things that that combo can't help heal. I believe in getting the best bang for your buck and these 4 oils start a very good 'First Aid Kit' of essential oils.

Now that I have the basic oils what should I add in next?

Here is what I added into my collection. Once you have a good base you can really add in the oils as you need them per ailment or just random based on what smells good. Here are some fun ideas. I will go deeper into the specific oils later, this is meant to be just a quick overview.

Copaiba is a new oil that is a lot like lavender in the sense that it "morphs" and is universal in treating just about everything under the sun.

Another really great oil with a ton of uses is Cedarwood. Cedarwood has been used for skin repair (it was used in ancient Egypt to aid in the mummification process), it is a very strong antibacterial and can be used for any skin irritation, cut or abrasion. Cedarwood has also been used to help both children and adults with ADHD. And the best thing about Cedarwood...it's a HUGE bargin.

My splurge oils have been Bergamot, Balsam Fir & Dragon Time but I love all three and will no longer not have them on hand. For cold and flu season RC is a must.

If you have any kind of chronic pain then Pan Away or Deep Relief are a great addition. Added bonus the Deep Relief is available in a cool Roll-On applicator! It makes it easy to use and even easier to pop into your bag, brief case or purse. Valor is another must...and I will have an entry on Valor soon because I have yet to find a situation where you can't use Valor. It really is one of the most amazing oil blends ever.

Peace and Calming and Gentle Baby are both good for kids. Really a must have for any house with children. I joking call Peace & Calming 'Valium in Bottle'.

Purification is another oil that is good for colds and flus but it is also a great oil to fend off bugs in the summer. They don't really like the citronella that is used in this blend

Clove is another wonder oil. It helps with teething because it's an old time remedy for any oral pain. It is also a very strong antifungal, antiviral and antimicrobial. Use it with the peppermint for any sinus infection. It is great on any cold and flu and is especially great for infections like mastitis and thrush.

Last but not least I have to mention the oils I use for my wonderful insomnia. I keep both Tranquil and RutaVaLa on hand to help for the nights where I just can't sleep. These have really helped.
